So how is our life in Perth?

As you might know, I moved to Perth in January 2017. The Visa I was granted for lasts for 5 years, so there are a little over 4 years more to go. Normally it shouldn´t be a problem to extend it after those 5 years, it depends on marriage, job etc.

When I left Austria on the 31.12.2016, I felt excited and sad aswell. Excited because this new adventure was waiting for me and I could finally live with Micah without having to leave him every couple of months. I was also sad because I didnt know when I would see my family and friends again. I have been in Perth 4 times before and always knew I would be back at home soon, but this time it was different.
I usually I get used to new places and people pretty fast, so I knew I will be alright and my family in Perth is awesome so that made and makes it a lot easier for me to live on the other side of the world. 🌏

When I went to Perth in January it was summertime over there, so perfect hot weather it was really nice. We live about 30 min outside the city in a two-story house with Micah´s parents. It never gets boring because his siblings, nephews and nieces all live close so we would always get visits from them or just hang around their houses. He has 19 nephews and nieces all together, there is always something happening. 😀 It was funny for me to suddenly have so many nephews and nieces aswell!
Micah is the youngest out of seven. His whole family moved from New Zealand to Sydney and about 7 years ago they all came to Perth. That is what I think really amazing – a whole family of 10-12 people back then, moves somewhere together. Not many Austrians would do that, that´s for sure. I really like how open minded they are and I can identify myself 100% with that. It is just about getting out of your comfort zone and to try new things.

As I finished my Bachelor studies back in Austria, it was time to look for a job. I studied educational science, so I wanted to do something with kids or teenagers. I wasn´t quite sure if my bachelor would be excepted in Perth at that time though.
Micah is working on the rails and always flies to northern Australia for 2 weeks, so I still wanted to see him when he is home and not having to go to work. That is when we had the idea to open a family daycare from home. I could work my own hours and also stay at home. It was the perfect idea. Not long after that, we changed a couple of things in the house to make a daycare-area. I had to do a first-aid-course, get the working with children check and also needed a certificate III to work as a daycarer. It was a long way to declare and send everything but luckily my bachelor is compatible and I am allowed to work in daycare or also as a preschool teacher.
So from May until September, before I flew back to Austria I was working in my own family daycare. I had six kids from the age of 6 months to 5 years. I loved it! I am not sure when and if I will open the daycare again when I fly back to Perth in February, as we have other goals and plans what we want to do in the near future, but time will tell, for now we just go with the flow. 🙂

Life in Perth is chilled, fun and adventurous. Well at least for me it is! It might be because of the sunny weather most of the year, but people are less stressed out and happier too. The beach is my favorite place of course and when it has at least 23 degrees outside, that is where you can find me! 🙂
Micah never wants to go to the beach if it isn’t at least 32 degrees outside haha. Everything under that is too cold for him! In Austria we are lucky to get 32 degress in summer lol. People in Austria sometimes say, they would never go to Australia because of the snakes and spiders, but to be honest I have seen a snake once and I have never seen a spider so far. We don´t really live in the countryside, so we barely even see kangaroos. Sometimes when we drive more inland we will see them jumping next to the streets, like the deer´s in Austria. But spiders and snakes are really not a big problem so far. :)🕷🐉

My first visitors from home have been my sister Sibylle and our best friend Anna.🖤 They have missed me so much that they came to see me for 2 weeks in April 🙂 It was cool to show them my new world and they enjoyed it a lot. We also went to Bali for a few days. Not long after our Bali trip, I found out that I am pregnant. My sister and Anna have already been at home by then, so this was some really exciting news.
I was just starting my daycare and a little bit nervous if I would be able to handle everything while I am pregnant. I thought it would be hard to look after the kids while running to the toilet because I´d feel sick. But I was fine the whole time, there hasn´t been one day i felt sick, I felt good all the time.😊

The 10 months I have lived in Perth so far have been really life changing for us. Everything just fell into place like the way the Visa worked out, I got a job and we got blessed with a babygirl which is due on the 24th of December 2017. Biggest blessing. 🌹

At the moment I am at home in Austria until February, because I want my family to be around when baby is born, as it is very important to me that they can see her as often as possible. Micah is still in Perth at the moment but he will come over in December to be with me for the birth. :)❄

I can´t really say if I like it better in Austria or Perth, there are pro´s and con´s and both countries are so different. For now I can see myself more in Perth. It is just better for Micah and me to live there because he has a job over there and we can afford more than we could in Austria.
If we lived in Austria we wouldn´t be able to travel that often as we are now. But it is not easy when two families live so far apart; it is like you can´t really win. Either Micah or I have to live somewhere else. At the moment it is me and it will be me for still a long time. But time will tell where our journey will take us. 🙂

Wie ist unser Leben in Perth so?

Wie ihr vielleicht schon wisst, bin ich im Jänner 2017 nach Perth gezogen. Das Visa unter dem ich eingereist bin, gilt für 5 Jahre, jetzt also noch ein bisschen über 4 Jahre. Es ist aber normalerweise kein Problem am Ende dieser Zeit das Visa zu verlängern, es kommt darauf an ob ich verheiratet bin, wie lang ich einen Job hatte usw.

Als ich Österreich am 31.12.2016 verließ, war es natürlich sehr aufregend aber auch traurig für mich. Aufregend war´s, da ein großes Abenteuer vor mir lag und ich endlich nicht immer für zwei oder mehreren Monaten getrennt von Micah sein musste. Traurig war es, weil ich nicht wusste wann ich meine Familie und Freunde in Österreich wieder sehen würde. Ich war schon viermal davor in Perth und wusste ja, dass ich bald wieder nach Hause fliegen würde, aber diesmal war es schon anders. Da ich mich aber sehr schnell anpasse, wusste ich dass alles gut werden würde. Meine Familie in Perth ist großartig und das machte und macht es noch immer sehr einfach für mich auf der anderen Seite der Erde zu leben.

Als ich im Januar nach Perth ging, war es gerade Sommerzeit, also perfektes heißes Wetter. Wir leben cirka 30 Minuten von der Stadt entfernt, in einem 2 stöckigen Haus mit Micah´s Eltern. Langeweile ist dort ein Fremdwort, da Micah´s Geschwister, Neffen und Nichten alle in der Nähe wohnen und wir immer Besuch haben oder einfach immer wo anders abhängen. Bei 19 Neffen und Nichten ist immer was los! Es war anfangs sehr komisch auf einmal soviel Neffen und Nichten zu haben, aber da ich gern von Kindern umgeben bin, passt das schon. 🙂

Micah ist der jüngste von sieben Geschwistern. Seine ganze Familie zog von Neu Seeland nach Sydney und vor 7 Jahren kamen alle nach Perth. Ich finde das erstaunlich, wenn wirklich die ganze Familie mitzieht. Damals waren es ja er, alle seine Geschwister und deren Kinder. Nicht viele ÖsterreicherInnen würden das machen, das ist sicher. Ich mag es wie offen seine Familie in der Hinsicht ist, ich kann mich sehr gut damit identifizieren. Einfach immer etwas Neues auszuprobieren und nicht so engstirnig zu leben ist doch lustiger, oder nicht?

Da ich ja meinen Bachelor in Österreich abschloss, wurde es Zeit in Perth einen Job zu finden. Ich studierte Pädagogik und wollte deshalb mit Kindern oder Jugendlichen arbeiten. Ich war mir aber nicht sicher ob mein Bachelor anerkannt werden würde. Micah arbeitet im norden Australiens und ist immer weg für 2 Wochen. Ich wollte ihn natürlich auch sehen wenn er zuhause ist und nicht immer arbeiten müssen, also kam uns die Idee, dass ich doch von zuhause aus arbeiten könnte, als eine Art Tagesmutter. Wir veränderten ein paar Dinge im Haus um es spielgerechter zu machen. Glücklicherweise wurde mein Uni-Abschluss auch anerkannt und ich darf nun in Kindertagesstätten oder Volksschulen arbeiten. Von Mai bis September arbeitete ich also als Tagesmutter bevor es nach Österreich ging. Ich betreute sechs Kinder im Alter zwischen 6 Monaten bis 5 Jahren. Ich liebte es! Ich bin mir aber noch nicht sicher ob und wann ich wieder weiter arbeiten werde in Perth, da wir andere Ziele und Pläne verfolgen, wir lassen es einfach auf uns zukommen.

Das Leben in Perth ist relaxt, macht Spaß und ist abenteuerlich. Für mich halt! Es kann am Wetter liegen, aber die Menschen sind nicht so gestresst und fröhlicher. Der Strand ist natürlich mein Lieblingsort und wenn es draußen mindestens 23 Grad hat, kann man mich dort finden. Micah will nie an den Strand bevor es nicht mehr als 32 Grad hat, alles andere ist zu kalt. Aber so sind die meisten unten, sie schätzen den Strand und das Meer nicht so. In Österreich können wir froh sein, mehr als 32 Grad Temperatur im Sommer zu haben haha.

Manchmal sagen Leute zu mir, dass sie sich nicht vorstellen könnten in Australien zu leben, da es ja giftige Schlangen und Spinnen gibt aber um ehrlich zu sein habe ich bis jetzt nur eine Schlange gesehen und noch kein Spinne, keine giftige halt. Die findet man eher im Busch als dort wo wir wohnen. Kangaroos sehe ich auch nur wenn wir weiter raus fahren, da hüpfen sie neben den Straßen wie die Rehe in Österreich. Aber Schlangen und Spinnen waren bis jetzt überhaupt kein Problem. 🙌🙆🙋

Meine ersten Besucherinnen aus Österreich waren meine Schwester Sibylle und beste Freundin Anna.🖤 Sie vermissten mich so sehr, dass sie schon im April für 2 Wochen zu mir kamen haha. Es war sehr cool zu zeigen wie ich so lebe und wir flogen sogar nach Bali für ein paar Nächte, da Bali nur 3,5 Stunden von Perth entfernt ist. 💃 Nicht lange danach, wurde ich schwanger. 👀Anna und Sibylle waren schon wieder in Österreich also waren die Neuigkeiten wirklich aufregend. Da ich damals gerade zu arbeiten angefangen habe, war ich natürlich etwas besorgt wie lange ich denn arbeiten kann und ob ich auf die Kids aufpassen kann während ich immer zur Toilette renne. Immerhin hatten wir ja ein tägliches Programm das ich einhalten musste. Aber meine Besorgnis war umsonst und das ganze halbe Jahr das ich arbeitete fühlte ich mich super, hatte keine Beschwerden.

Die zehn Monate die ich bis jetzt in Perth verbrachte, veränderten wirklich mein Leben. Alles traf perfekt aufeinander, das Visa wurde genehmigt, ich hatte einen tollen Job und dann wurden wir auch noch mit unserem Baby gesegnet, das um dem 24.12.2017 zur Welt kommen soll. 🙂 🌹

Im Moment bin ich ja in Österreich bis voraussichtlich Feber. Ich wollte einfach bei meiner Familie sein, wenn Baby Aiyana auf die Welt kommt. Es ist sehr wichtig für mich, dass meine Familie sie so oft wie es möglich sieht. Micah ist noch in Perth und kommt Anfang Dezember nach Österreich. ❄

Ich kann nicht wirklich sagen, ob ich es in Österreich oder Perth besser finde, da es immer zwei Seiten gibt. Zurzeit kann ich mir besser vorstellen in Perth zu bleiben, da Micah dort einen Job hat den er hier nicht ausüben könnte und wir uns einfach mehr leisten können als wenn wir in Österreich leben würden. Er oder ich könnten nicht so oft herum fliegen wie jetzt, wenn wir in Österreich leben würden. Es kommt natürlich auch darauf an welche Art von Arbeit man hat. Es ist aber nicht einfach, wenn zwei Familien soweit voneinander entfernt leben, man kann nicht gewinnen. Entweder muss Micah oder ich von der eigenen Familie entfernt leben. In unserem Fall bin ich es und das wird auch noch länger so bleiben. Die Zeit wird zeigen wohin uns unsere Reise führen wird. 🙂
